is to provide the best possible news and information service to the blind and visually impaired in the Bridgwater Area and to make it entertaining.
We will provide this service so long as it is needed thereby ensuring that that Talking Newspaper can continue to be a vital link in the community for people who have become isolated due to eye problems.
With digital and Internet technology we can provide a Talking News service without the normal limitations. If you wish to know more please contact us
The BTN is now produced on a memory stick which is played on a boom box which we have provided and set up in our listeners homes free of charge. They’re the same size as your largest finger and slot into either a computer’s USB socket or any USB socket on a home TV, Hi-Fi or any other appliance with USB technology. However Sky+ boxes, although fitted with USB sockets are not compatible with this service.
Each week we include: local news, sports updates, postbag items, what’s on, items from around the region and all the announcements of births, birthdays, anniversaries and deaths.
We try to lighten things a little with some good music and usually end with our “and finally” corny joke of the week and are always open to suggestions of items for inclusion from our listeners. The items are included by the kind permission of the Bridgwater Mercury newspaper and is produced and sent out each Thursday.
